This coming Monday, August 6, is the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration of our Lord. The Transfiguration icons are some of my favorites, and the meaning of the Transfiguration has been one of the most profound revelations to me in Orthodoxy. I grew up hearing that the Transfiguration was just “when God told us to listen to Jesus instead of the Old Testament (represented by Moses and Elijah).” What surprises Orthodoxy had in store for me! Below are a couple of worthwhile links to good articles and essays on the Transfiguration.
